Welcome to Sanford and Sven Second Hand. A little out of the way second hand and antique shop in the heart of hipsterdom. We sell everything from tables to taxidermy to the Prada clad masses of Willimasburg. If you find it in our shop, it's probably because some geezer in New Jersey kicked the bucket and we wound up at his estate sale.
I'm Ann. I live in the Bronx and travel an hour and a half most days to sell you ephemera and furniture. I had a "real job" once and used to be able to do lavish things like get regular haircuts and (gasp) go to the dentist but it got hard to pursue my creative projects and I cried a lot. So I quit, in the darkest part of the recession, and took the first job that came along that didn't require a uniform.
For the past few years I've been writing about you because, frankly, you are ridiculous. But don't take that in a bad way, it's your best quality! Why? Because it makes people laugh.

A unique, often dark, always hilarious peek into the soul-sucking world of second hand retail. Short vignettes, many wonderfully illustrated, are the perfect burst of cynical hilarity. A few glimpses of the writer's origin story left me craving more..
I'm excited for this book. Ann's thoughts on the customers she serves at her (unidentified) shop in Brooklyn, puncturing the pretensions of the people of hipster Williamsburg, have been entertaining me on the Internet for years. It's a pleasure to see her bringing it to the wider masses.
Just hilarious. These imaginary interactions with real customers at Sanford & Sven's Second Hand in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, USA, some very brief, some long with incredible detail, offer a world in microcosm, revealing much about Williamsburg, and America. My favorite "Please don't provoke the taxidermy."
Hilarious and brutally honest. We've all worked in customer service at some point ini our lives and we've all thought EXACTLY what Ann Enzminger Bronshvag has put to paper! I promise when you read this book you'll find yourself nodding to yourself and laughing out loud as you silently agree and think... "yup! been there, thought that!" ) GREAT READ.
