MUST READ SERIES
Sarai

Sarai's story will pull you right in from page 1. She's an amazing and strong female lead. I've been rooting for Sarai the entire series and when she hurts, I hurt right along with her. She’s vulnerable but not weak. She walked out of an impossible situation and on to another where she's still not in control of her own life. But one thing she does possess is the ability to face the unknown without breaking. She’s fearless without losing herself and her humanity.

Victor

Victor Faust is not the kind of man you should fall in love with. He's a merciless killer. Being cold and calculating is an integral part of his job as well as his survival. Yet, Sarai falls in love with Victor. So did I and so will you. This is not an instalove romance and I'm glad for it. It's not an easy love but then this not a fairytale. Sarai is a damaged soul and Victor is no knight in shining armor. Still, their connection is intriguing to say the least and you will want to follow it wherever it leads. Victor is one of my favorite leading men. He's on the top of my list of mysterious heroes. This man is definitely not an open book. But it's this constant alluring anticipation of his true feelings that makes him even more mysterious, more appealing, more dangerous especially in his relationship with Sarai. {That anticipating that makes a girl start plucking petals from a daisy, "He loves me. He loves me not. He loves me.." Oh, the angst!}

I'm hopelessly addicted to the series; 100% invested in the characters and their stories. They feel incredibly real. Anytime I begin a book and it immediately starts playing like a movie in my head, I know I've got magic in my hands. I have read all 6 books in the series and I'm desperately waiting for book 7. I continue to cheer for Sarai and even though this is not a fairytale, I'm begging for her HEA with Victor. No matter how much I enjoy my dark reads, a girl always hopes (at least secretly) for the knight in shining armor to come charging to the rescue. J.A. Redmerski, please let it be so!!

Killing Sarai In the Company of Killers Book 1 eBook JA Redmerski Reviews

All I can say is Wow! What a way to start a new series and what a way for Sarai to start a new life. Sarai's mother gave her over to a Mexican drug dealer named Javier at fourteen and since then all she could do was survive. She has lived around girls being used and sold as sex slaves, drug dealers and murder, so when an American shows up one day she knows this is her only way out of this life and she knows that she may die trying to escape.

In walks Victor Faust, an assassin who works for the Order and just like Sarai, he has only seen violence and death his whole life. He follows what the Order tells him to do and he's good at it. As Victor leaves the compound he finds Sarai in the car and instead of returning her to Javier, he decides to help her.

What I like most about this book is that it's told from both Sarai's and Victor's POVs. We get to know each of them. I love the twist and turns, the new characters and the awesome new journey Sarai and Victor will find themselves going through. I can't wait for book two.
I only read this because it was free on . It wasn't a total time waster but it could have been better. I'm certainly not going to read the entire series because looking at the summaries, some books will be centered around characters I already have no interest in. I'll certainly read the second but that will most likely be the last book in the series I bother with.

So anyway, the story is about a girl who has spent the past nine years as a slave to a drug lord in Mexico. Some guy her mom met but she had died before the story starts. Sarai is twenty-three at the start of the story and the story starts with her and her friend listening in on some deal between the drug lord and an American. Sarai thinks it is their chance to escape but her friend can't be convinced so Sarai leaves her but promises to come back for her. So she takes the American, later known as Victor hostage in his car wanting to get over the US border. It happens eventually but soon the drug lord wants her dead and wants Victor to do it.

That's all I'm going to say about the first half of the story because there is a second plot with the other half that I find to be quite boring.

My main issue with this story is the lack of chemistry between the two characters. It is certainly a slow paced book but even with the few chapters that are set in Victor's POV, I don't get a feeling or sense of any kind of feeling romantic or otherwise towards Sarai. I mean Sarai certainly throws herself at him but he could care less half the time.

The writing was okay but Sarai did talk too much. Even Victor had his moments of rambling. There were a lot of paragraphs of them talking about one particular thing that would take up a whole page that I found uninteresting. Sarai was certainly an open book with her life whereas Victor was not.

The characters were kind of boring. Victor was the most hero...anti-hero, whatever he is in this book, I had ever read. He hardly had any kind of emotion, getting him to talk was like pulling out teeth and he just had no real personality.

Sarai was too talkative, too needy and just seemed like a follower. Okay so here is a spoiler for the second half of the book, she wants to be with Victor and learn to be a killer like him if it means she can stay with him. She had no interest in starting a new life after being freed, she just wanted to attach herself to her at-first reluctance rescuer. Well, have fun with that.

Niklas was not at all likable. Ironically he was more annoying than Sarai and they both hated each other.

But I'll stick around for the second book
